Open Kundli Matching →Why traditional Kundli matching sites fail NRIs
Most kundli matching websites were built for a desktop user sitting in Pune in 2008. If you live abroad, three things break immediately:
- The interface is Hindi-first.When a site tells you "Nadi dosha hai," you have no idea whether that's a deal-breaker, a soft caution, or something a knowledgeable Jyotiṣī would dismiss in your specific chart.
- The birth-time fields assume India. Try entering a US or UK birth city and watch the form reject it, treat it as IST, or geocode wrong — every subsequent reading is off.
- The output is jargon. A total Guṇa score without which Kūṭas are weak and what that means for daily married life leaves you guessing.
What is Aṣṭakūṭa? The 8 Kūṭas explained in one line each
Aṣṭakūṭa (अष्टकूट) means eight independent compatibility tests, each scored, totalled to a maximum of 36 Guṇa. Here is what each Kūṭa measures:
- Varṇa (1 point) — spiritual/temperamental class.
- Vaśya (2 points) — mutual magnetism and gentle influence.
- Tārā (3 points) — birth-star compatibility and general well-being.
- Yoni (4 points) — instinctive and intimate compatibility.
- Graha Maitrī (5 points) — friendship between Moon-sign rulers.
- Gaṇa (6 points) — temperamental category (Deva, Manuṣya, Rākṣasa).
- Bhakūṭa (7 points) — Moon-sign position; prosperity and longevity together.
- Nāḍī (8 points) — health and energetic compatibility (weighted heaviest).
A score of 18+ Guṇa is traditionally acceptable; 24+ is good; 28+ is excellent. Daanyam shows the full breakdown, not just the total. See your full Aṣṭakūṭa breakdown →
How Daanyam handles birth abroad
Vedic calculations depend on exact birth time, precise location (lat/long), and the correct historical timezone for that date (including DST). Daanyam geocodes global cities, resolves historical timezones, computes sidereal charts with Lahiri ayanāṃśa, and explains results in English with Sanskrit terms preserved and defined inline.
How to use Daanyam Kundli Matching — 3 steps
- Enter both birth details. Date, time (local to birthplace), and city.
- Get the 36 Guṇa Milan score instantly. Each Kūṭa scored and explained; Doṣas flagged with cancellation notes where applicable.
- Go deeper with Saṅgati— Daśā timing, Navāṃśa overlay, and Muhūrta windows for the next 12 months.
Who this is for
- NRI couples preparing for a wedding in India or abroad.
- Modern Hindus wanting Vedic compatibility on their own terms.
- Diaspora parents vetting matches for children born in Western cities.
- Anyone frustrated by Hindi-only sites or one-line paṇḍit verdicts.
Frequently asked questions
Is Daanyam's Kundli Matching accurate for someone born outside India?
Yes. We geocode global birth cities to precise coordinates and apply the correct historical timezone (including DST) for your birth date. The chart and Aṣṭakūṭa scoring are mathematically identical to what a senior Jyotiṣī in Varanasi would compute — the difference is the explanation is in English.
What's a good Guṇa Milan score for marriage?
Traditionally, 18 out of 36 is the minimum acceptable, 24+ is good, and 28+ is excellent. But the distribution across the 8 Kūṭas matters more than the total. Daanyam shows you both, plus whether any Doṣa (like Nāḍī or Bhakūṭa) is cancelled by other factors — which significantly changes the verdict.
Do I need exact birth times?
For a meaningful match, yes. Birth time determines the Ascendant (Lagna) and Moon sign — both central to Aṣṭakūṭa. If you don't know exact times, Daanyam can still run a partial match using only the date (Sun sign level), but flag it as approximate. For NRIs whose Indian-born partner has only an approximate time, we recommend a quick birth-time rectification first.
Why does Daanyam separate Kundli Matching and Saṅgati?
Kundli Matching gives you the static 36 Guṇa Milan — the snapshot. Saṅgati layers in time: when in the next 12 months are your two charts most harmonious for marriage, conception, joint financial decisions, or major moves. Static compatibility is necessary but not sufficient; timing is what most couples actually need.
Is the tool free? What does Daanyam charge for?
Aṣṭakūṭa Kundli Matching is free. Deeper personalised work — Saṅgati windows, Muhūrta selection, and seva sponsorship through verified Indian temples and gaushalas — is available in our paid tiers. We're a Jyotiṣa layer for the diaspora; the matching tool is the front door, and we keep it open.
Dharma from anywhere. Your stars. Your seva.
