Significance of Narasimha Jayanti
Narasimha Jayanti commemorates the appearance of Lord Narasimha — the fierce half-man, half-lion fourth avatar of Vishnu — who manifested at twilight from a stone pillar to slay the demon king Hiranyakashipu and protect his young devotee Prahlada. It is observed on the fourteenth day (Chaturdashi) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of Vaishakha month. The most auspicious worship is performed during the Sayana Kala (twilight) muhurat — the same liminal hour at which the Lord himself appeared, neither day nor night.
