The vrat is observed through fasting, Vishnu-Krishna worship, reading the Bhagavad Gita, and dedicating merit to ancestors and departed souls. The day asks the devotee to move from confusion to clarity, just as Arjuna did when he received Krishna's teaching.
Gau Seva on Mokshada Ekadashi is a liberation-oriented daan. Krishna as Govinda is the protector of cows, and feeding Gaumata on the day of the Gita honours both his teaching and his pastoral love. The seva may be dedicated for the peace of ancestors and the spiritual upliftment of the family.
