Devotees observe a grain-free fast, worship Lord Vishnu with tulsi and lamps, recite the Vishnu Sahasranama, and break the fast on Dwadashi after prayer and daan.
Gau Seva on Jaya Ekadashi is a gentle form of victory. Feeding Gaumata turns the vrat away from self-denial alone and toward protection of the innocent. In Vaishnava tradition, the cow is under Vishnu's care; offering bhojan to cows on this day is believed to help the devotee overcome harshness and invite sattvic strength into the home.
