Devotees chant awakening prayers to Vishnu, observe the ekadashi fast, light lamps, worship tulsi, and prepare for Tulsi Vivah and the return of auspicious ceremonies such as weddings. The day is a spiritual reopening: devotion that was inward during Chaturmas now becomes outward action.
Gau Seva on Haribodhini Ekadashi completes the Chaturmas arc with gratitude. Feeding cows on the day Vishnu awakens is a way of offering the fruit of one's vows back to the Lord. For families beginning new shubh karmas after this day, Gau Seva becomes the first act of auspiciousness.
