Love compatibility, three ways

Enter two birth dates and places. Vedic Ashtakoota scores the two sidereal Moons out of 36. Chinese uses the Lunar New Year animal of each birth year. Western synastry reads tropical aspects in TypeScript, with no extra engine call. A zero on Nadi or Bhakoot is a conversation, not a verdict.

How it works

Each person gets one sidereal engine chart. Vedic Ashtakoota uses the two sidereal Moons via the same function as our other matching tools, then replaces the built-in labels and guidance. Varna is scored both ways and averaged. We never show Devanagari koota names or the matching product’s remedy copy on this page.

Chinese animals come from the Hong Kong Observatory Lunar New Year table. Western synastry is computed here from tropical longitudes: no extra engine endpoint. Moon aspects are included only for a person whose birth time is known. Mars is named only when both times are known.

Place search uses Open-Meteo as you type. Nominatim is only queried when you submit. If a place has no time zone we do not compute. For the method, see how we compute.

Questions

Do we need birth times?

Dates and places are enough for the Sun, the Chinese animals, and most of Ashtakoota. Moon aspects in the Western column, and Mars (Mangal), need a birth time for both people.

Why is Varna a half point sometimes?

Classical Varna is order-dependent (one person is scored as if they were the groom). We score it both ways and average, because these two people are not assigned those roles. The rest of Ashtakoota uses the order you entered.

What does a dosha mean here?

A traditional name for a koota that scored zero, or for Mars in certain houses. It is a topic to talk through, not a stop sign and not a prediction.

How is the Western score made?

We look for conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition between the two tropical charts. Tighter orbs and closer planet pairs (Sun–Moon, Sun–Saturn, Venus–Mars) weigh more. The method is on how we compute.
