Australian Hindu mornings run ahead of India, not behind. Sydney and Melbourne can already be on the next Gregorian date while Delhi is still on the previous evening — which is why IST festival flyers regularly miss the local Ekadashi vrat. Perth and Brisbane do not observe DST at all, so for half the year the country is not even on one clock internally.
New South Wales and Victoria observe DST from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April. Queensland (Brisbane) and Western Australia (Perth) stay on standard time all year, which opens a one-hour gap between Sydney and Brisbane every southern summer. Use the city page rather than a national rule of thumb.
