Life chapter calculator: your current dasha

Your current life chapter is the Vimshottari mahadasha running now, with its antardasha. Both are set by the sidereal Moon at birth. A birth time is required because the start of the 120-year cycle, and so every later date, moves if the time is wrong.

How it works

We ask the engine for a non-compact sidereal chart, take the Moon, then ask the engine for the current Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha. One chart is cached and reused, so a repeat request does not hit the engine twice.

A birth time is required. Place search is the same Open-Meteo path as the Moon star calculator (Nominatim only on submit, no India boost), and we refuse a place whose time zone is unknown.

For the method behind all of our calculators, see how we compute.

Questions

Why is a birth time required?

The dasha cycle starts from the Moon's nakshatra at birth. A few hours can change the remaining portion of that first chapter, which then shifts every later date by years.

What is a mahadasha?

A mahadasha is a long planetary period in the 120-year Vimshottari cycle. Each period is ruled by one planet. The antardasha is the chapter inside it.

When does the chapter change?

We show the end date of the current antardasha when the engine returns one, otherwise the end of the mahadasha.

What does a Moon-boundary note mean?

The birth Moon was within half a degree of a nakshatra edge, so the opening chapter can move with a small time change.
