Karva Chauth 2026 in Calgary — local moonrise (parana)

Hindu festival dates follow the tithi at local sunrise, not a fixed Gregorian date and not a simple IST conversion. Calgary sits in a different timezone from India, and sunrise happens at a different longitude — so the same Kartika tithi can name a different civil morning. Muhurat windows (Pradosh Kaal, Aparahna, moonrise, Arghya) are always recomputed from this place's coordinates.

Take sargi before local sunrise. Keep the nirjala fast through the day. In the evening, complete the karva puja, then break the fast after sighting the moon through a sieve — use the moonrise on this page for your city.
